SROUCE: Prem Krishnan, India: Killing of baby seals.

Hi friends,

The international campaign to stop the merciless killing of newborn seals has now reached a stage where there is a very good chance of success. Along with the huge support it has achieved across the globe, it has also drawn in two of the worlds best known people: Paul McCartney and his wife Heather.

Our online petition has now reached 61,000 signatures. It is easy to sign, hosted on the web by the Humane Society of the United States. Our target before the end of this month is 150,000 signatures. Please can you help us by forwarding this mail to as many of your friends as possible?

Thank you for your time,

Prem Krishnan.

Together we can …..

The total will be one million over three years, allowed by the Canadian Government.
They are being killed primarily for their pelts for the fashion industry.
Shocking veterinary panels show that as many as 42% were skinned while still fully conscious and able to feel pain.

The key to ending the seal hunt will be an international storm of protest, breaking over Ottawa.

To make it easier for you the Humane Society of the United States has an online petition, which you can read and sign, spending only a few minutes of your time. Today, 5th March ’06 we have reached over 60,000 signatures and our target is 150,000. Please, could you take the time to visit this site and read the petition and sign it if you agree with us ?

We need signatures from across the world, if you agree with this cause, please consider forwarding this to as many of your friends as possible.

Just a few short weeks before Canadian sealers gear up to kill hundreds of thousands of baby seals, Heather and Paul McCartney journeyed to the seal nurseries on the ice floes of the North Atlantic to focus international attention on the grim fate awaiting these newborn animals. Appalled by the Canadian government’s insistence on supporting the cruel commercial hunt for seal skins, the McCartneys are calling on newly elected Prime Minister Stephen Harper to end the annual hunt forever. Join Heather and Paul by e-mailing the Prime Minister today.

Please read the journal of Rebecca Aldworth, of the HSUS, who confronts this brutality firsthand when she travels to the ice floes of Northeastern Canada, video camera in hand, to record the abuses committed by sealers. In 2006, she will make her eighth trip to the ice, taking with her other experts, videographers, and journalists.
